More shade and soft surfacing have been added to the Koch Childcare Center on the MIT campus. The recently completed day care yard had too much sun exposure and an awkward concrete water runnel that the school wanted to replace. This renovation included three carefully placed shade structures, (designed to maximize shade coverage), and a new open play area in place of the water feature. The new elements artfully blend in with the existing play yard features.
