This renovation changed the focus of this daycare yard from physical play on standard play structures to an educational play garden. Vegetable and flower plots, water, mud and sand play areas, rain barrels for watering, biking paths and a few traditional play structures are now set within naturalistic plantings. Young learners can observe and interact with nature in an intuitive and hands-on way.In addition to greatly diversifying the play and learning experience, the implemented design increases accessibility throughout the yard, solves drainage issues, updates play equipment to current standards, and improves safety with clearly established accessible fire exit routes.
